Ok, so I took my car in to get smogged, but there was as issue. When they put it on and hooked it up, they did a "Readiness Test." On this test, it checks the status of 11 things... Misfire, Components, Heated Catalyst, 2nd Air System, O2 Sensor, EGR System, Fuel System, Catalyst, Evap. System, A/C System, and O2 Heater. In order to move on to the next part of the test, you need to have at least 7 of them say "Ready." Well only 3 of mine said ready, and they were...Misfire, Components, and Fuel System...the rest just said "Not Ready" or "N/A." They printed out the sheet for me that showed this, and at the top it is labeled "OBD II Test Data." The guy asked me if I had disconnected my battery recently, i said yea, about 3 weeks prior. He said normally it is only an issue if you disconnect it like a day before. He didnt know what to tell me; so I leave the smog place and take it to Mitsu. in Roseville. The guy tells me that this is a common issue. He said he can set the computer for me, but it will cost around $125 to do so...and there is a 10% chance he will not be able to do it; he also tells me that there is the possibility that if I turn off my car when he is finished, it will all be erased again (all the while i will still have to pay for all this even if none of it works). Then he reccommends that I should have them smog it as well which is around $100 there. Speechless, I shake my head, say no thanks, and leave. Sorry about the long drawn out story, but I felt it was needed to give you guys a better understanding so you might be able to help me out here. I heard from one guy that I should disconnect my battery, drive for 20 miles, take it to the smog, leave it running and then have them take it. I was told that my issue might be whenever I turn the car off, it resets all this stuff. So my question for you guys is, are any of you familiar with this? Have any of you had this problem? Did you fix it, if so how? Id appreciate any and all help. Thanks ahead of time.
