Ive heard rumors that its possible to add vtec to the 4g63 block, buy buying a new vtec head and conversion kit. I already have performance cams, the engine is out, and i want vtec. How do i make it happen?

1. mitsu's variable timing is called MIVEC and it will come on the evo9's 4g63
2. NO you cannot PUT it on your motor

Listening to the Honda crowd eh? Just playin'. The only "VTEC" you can put on a 1G or 2G DSM is the JDM CYCLONE Intake manifold which contains butterfiles in 4 of the 8 runners it has. Bolts right up to a mitsu head, but you'll need some way of controlling the valves to open up past a certain RPM-vs.-psi. JEFF O makes a chip for the 1G with the code for it to work properly. You can also do the do-it-yourself way and have it open consistently past 5k, but it wont net you any gains over a stock 1G intake manifold by doing it that way.

You can also control it using DSMLink nitrous controls

Second the exhaust. Best bang for the buck when first starting out, especially on a 1G.

i'll third that. go with a full 3" turboback. look into a boost gauge and a gauge mount also.

im not sure about a turbo-back, a cat-back though and then a low restriction converter.

get a DP that eliminates the cat such as the RRE, Apexi etc. and a 3" cat-back exhaust system! :D

also RRE makes a DP that go's into there high flow cat or you can hollow out a cat and use it :)

its not the passing smog that im concerned about,
its when the cops pull me over and check under the hood.

ok forget my whole idea because RRE doesn't seem to make DP for 1g FWD that are short.. hmm I'll keep looking.

try AMS. i know they make a nice 3" SS downpipe that lets you use a cat conv.
