for those of you who already know that my car is being worked on there, this won't surprise you.

on a scale of 1-10 i give this shop a 4. That's being generous.

First impressions were great. There was a great customer service rep that worked there and even did some of the work on the cars that came in. CSM did the work on my head for my car and it came out amazing.
Then came time for the block to go into the shop. There was a whole new staff because the old staff quit because they couldn't deal with the owner anymore. Mind you, this is where everything goes downhill.

Let me give you all a little history on this...
My block was turned in to CSM for some machine work. The requested service was to just clean up the block and check for damage/cracks, bore it .20 over and install the new parts. Simple, right? Apparently not.
The owner couldn't get to the block right away cause he was having "personal issues at home". I'm an understanding and nice guy... So I give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe next time I won't be so understanding. We also agreed to the fact that I can make payments while they work on it and pay in one lump sum of the remaining balance when the work is complete. I was even nice enough to order all the parts myself and give them to them to use.

My block has been sitting at CSM for a year. The only thing they've completed was the hot tank and resurfacing of the block surface and the magnaflux. It has been sitting ever since. Granted... It took them 8 months to get the block cleaned and magnafluxed, another 2 months to get it resurfaced. They have still not even gotten to the machining part of it all.

On the brighter side of things, if you're not dealing with the owner himself, the customer service is amazing. Corey, their customer service rep, is awesome. She is willing to help and will always do whatever is needed to try to make the customer happy. That, and when they actually finish the job, the work is flawless. Everything is done to a exact measurement.

So, all in all I would not do business with CSM again, due to the negative points outweighing the positive points.

i had my head work done when Oscar was still there. it took about 2-3 days just for the standard rebuild. i can't remember the price but it was fair. the work was good.

i had my engine machined and assembled by Cliff over at turbo power. he knows the 4g63's inside and out. used to build mitsu rally cars for 12 years and did a bunch of road race stuff. i dunno how busy he is but you might wanna give him a call....530-677-2233. he's up in cameron park.

I talked to cliff...cool guy, knows his shit. He told me to take it to his old shop...Comptech. He said he occasionally still works on stuff over there but due to his schedule it would be better to go thru them. I called Comptech 2x a day everyday last week without an answer or returned call.

I asked him what he thought about Dels and he said "Dont even think about it"...eeek

So I'm back at step one....

I just want this crap in the shop! Is that so hard to ask for!

Comptech is located about a block and a half from my work. I've been there. They do good work. The thing is, you really need to just show up with your schitt and talk to them there. I don't know if their receptionist is just retarded, or if they even have one anymore, but this time of year they're pretty busy though, lots of face stuff going on, and they build indy car motors and such.

I talked to john (main machine shop guy) today and gave him the general idea of what I want done. Not as overly priced as I thought it would be. He was out of the shop all last week so that's why I couldn't get ahold of him I guess. I'll talk to him tomorrow for the final details and probably bring the whole engine down there wednesday. We'll see...

last time i talked to the guys over at comtech i was told that they didn't have the indy contract anymore. maybe something changed since then. this was like 2 years ago.
